He was financially solvent, owned his condo, and invested a sensible percentage of his income with a reputable money manager.
He fronted two bands before his current one, and was handled professionally.
He developed a taste for Zeus in the last turbulent months of his relationship with Loxie, had court-ordered rehab, but voluntarily entered a facility in Zurich four months ago and had been clean since.
He wrote or cowrote all the songs on his latest album, which he was recording at East Side Sound, during his rehab stint.
He’s continued with addiction therapy and meetings.
He met his girlfriend in a bookstore.^[2]
He relapsed once, hooking up with Loxie at Styx, but begged Lauren to take him back, which she did after he got clean, and is waiting to have sex with him until he’s been sober for a year. Coming to Screw U the night Loxie was killed was a test for him to see if he could be in a club, hear music, be around people drinking and popping, without relapsing, and he passed the test.^[2]
When he heard Janis laughing maniacally, he looked over and saw Loxie on the floor. He yelled for his bass player to call 9-1-1 and he went over to her, but couldn’t find a pulse.^[2]
