Avenue A is a “strong, innovative” rock band according to Roarke. Nadine Furst told Eve in Apprentice in Death[1] that Avenue A had been “rocking the charts” for 15 years, give or take. But in Dark in Death, Roarke says that they are “strong and innovative enough they’ve stayed at the top of their game over two decades.”[2]
Fronted by Jake Kincade.
Formation[]
In Random in Death, Jake remembered he, Leon and Renn “busking in subway tunnels” before they were 15. Mac joined the band when they were in high school. Art was the last member to join, and that was when they decided to call themselves “Avenue A.” They practiced “in the storage room of the apartment building, then in Mac’s uncle’s garage.” Then Jake fast-talked “Harve into letting them play, just one gig, before they were old enough to buy a beer...That one gig turned into two weeks that summer, and ended with a recording contract.”[3]
Since Club Rock It was the site of their first paying gig, Avenue A played there twice a year even though they were able to sell out much larger venues. One of the concerts they offered was an under-twenty-one late summer bash, with all of the alcohol locked up. The one in 2061 was when Jenna Harbough was murdered in Random in Death.[3]
They first entered the charts in 2046. According to Eve, two of the band members and Jake have been friends since they were kids. All five original band members are still in the band.
