Booster (Legal drug) – Energy pill, drink, or shot mentioned throughout the In Death series. In liquid form, it comes in different flavors, and are often thrust upon Eve when she looks peaked. The first mention was in Glory in Death when Roarke gave her a glass of pale pink liquid instead of a pill, since he knew how much she disliked anything resembling drugs. He told her it was a little something one of his labs had been working on and will be on the market in about six months.[1]
Other mentions.
- In Holiday in Death, Eve said she could take a booster if she didn’t get enough sleep - she “may have to hit the department-approved drugs before [the killing] is over.”[2]
- In Seduction in Death, Summerset gave her a booster shot when Eve woke up sick, and she promised Roarke she would give him a few days in Mexico after she closed the case.[3]
- In Visions in Death, Louise handed Eve and Peabody bottled lemon-flavored protein boosters before she answered questions about Celina Sanchez.[4]
- In Indulgence in Death, Peabody declined Eve’s coffee because she took a boost and felt like her eyes were glued open and her nerves were all twitchy.[5]
- In Desperation in Death, Eve told everybody who’d been working all night that if they wanted to be in on The Pleasure Academy raid, they needed to take boosters, including herself.[6]
Not to be confused with Booster, an illegal drug that caused the brain to pop, mentioned in Visions in Death.[7]
