Club Rock It – The venue where Avenue A played their first paying gig, in the 2040s, “before they were old enough to buy a beer.” According to Jake Kincade, “It wasn’t a dive or a dump, but as clubs went, it clung to its Alphabet City roots. Never going to be fancy, never going upscale. And proud of it.”[1] It was located on Avenue A, owned and managed by Harve Greenbaum and Glo Reiser, had been in business for over twenty years, and Roarke owned the building.[2]
They’ve had three health department violations over the twenty-odd years Harve and Glo have owned it (all addressed) and no citations for serving the underage. It held about 200 at capacity. There was a rainbow sign lit up with the name and music notes jumping around it at the front of the club, the front was old brick, with graffiti of guitars, drums, and dancers, and it backed up to an alley.[2] It had worn tables, a scarred dance floor, and a bar.[3]
Avenue A played two concerts there every year, including an under-twenty-one show late in the summer. Jenna Harbough was killed there in Random in Death (August, 2061), towards the end of one of those shows.[1]
