'Communicator – A communicator, different from a ’link (how/why different is unknown), that may be carried on the person. It has audio and video capabilities and one mode may be chosen while the others restricted - or both used simultaneously[1] and was mentioned in most In Death books. “When her communicator hummed, Eve punched in her code and Roarke’s face filled the miniscreen” (it fit in her pocket).[2] Dash comp[3] and other comp mentions.[4]
A police communicator also has a homing device included that must be physically engaged to operate.[5]
