She should not be confused with Uniform Carmichael (male, also in Dallas's Homicide Squad) or Officer Carmichael (female, a uniform in Holiday in Death).
First mentioned in: Immortal in Death (June 27 - July 11, 2058)
On the Job[]
- Carmichael was primary on the Hetta Moppett homicide. When Eve took over the “Jane Doe” case, she called Carmichael’s work sloppy, as Hetta’s fingerprints were on file from her companion’s license. She said Carmichael could have ID’d her weeks ago.[1]
- Told Eve she found a witness who, as a waitress at Purgatory, made Kohli for a cop, and also saw Captain Roth in there at times, “sucking down whiskey sours.”[3]
- Baxter, after Eve reassigned him to Nixie Swisher, dumped his current case files on Carmichael. According to Baxter, “Carmichael now hates me like a case of genital warts. Made my day.”[4]
- She was partnered with Detective Santiago in late summer 2060. According to Carmichael, they were getting along okay and developing a rhythm.[5]
- In Devoted in Death, Eve sent Carmichael and Santiago to Arkansas and Oklahoma to search for information. When they came back, there was a briefing about the case, and Eve called Carmichael and Santiago up. Carmichael was wearing brand-new sheepskin lined sapphire-blue cowboy boots with jewel-colored studs running down the sides. Dallas asked her, “Are you serious?” and she told Eve “You said soft clothes. Santiago bought a hat.” He said, “I’m not wearing it.” Carmichael told Eve, “Not on an op, but on the job. Five full days. He lost a bet.” Santiago shook his head sadly at Eve. “I didn’t learn from my mistakes, and now have to pay the price.”[6]
Interesting Facts[]
- Carmichael was generally unflappable in Eve’s estimation.[7]
- McNab asked Carmichael if she wanted to watch while he and Peabody fought then kissed and made up. She said sure and told him to take his clothes off first.[8]
- Her sister worked in a bakery and made Eve a cookie shaped like a dog that said Top Dog as a little token for taking Garnet down a peg in Treachery in Death. When Eve asked her why she didn’t like Garnet, she said “I had a case cross with one of his awhile back. He’s an asshole. He struts. I don’t like strutters. Likes pushing his weight around and acting like he’s doing you some big favor for sharing info when you’re working angles on the same case. Doesn’t like getting his pretty suits dirty either. Roasted a rook uniform in front of God and everyone for asking a question, and when I objected he told me to stop being a little girl. So, in the spirit of what goes around, a token for the Top Dog for busting his balls now.”[9]
- She sang with Avenue A and Mavis Freestone at Nadine’s housewarming party in Connections in Death (Jake Kincade said Carmichael (“chick cop”) has pipes and she did a duet with Mavis).[10] She said she kills when she can get to open mic night “and now I’ve sung duets with Mavis and Jake.”[11]
