Dockport Rehabilitation Center – An on-planet facility located in Chicago, Illinois that was mentioned in Reunion in Death: “Dockport resembled a small, self-contained, and tidy city with guard towers, bars, and shock walls... well-maintained roads, patches of green... suburban architecture.” Droid dogs patrolled the perimeter... there was a basketball court, a running track, and picnic tables painted a cheerful blue. The walls were twelve-feet high and three-feet thick.[1]
Inside, the floors were clean and sparkling with wide and roomy walkways. Riot glass designed to withstand the blast of homemade boomers or a laser shot sectioned off each area. The Dockport guards wore dark blue while other members of the staff wore street clothes with chef-white coats. Inmates wore neon-orange jumpsuits with DRC on the back in big block letters.“Supervisor” Miller was Dockport’s warden.[2]
Dockport was built twenty-five years ago (c. 2034) and began receiving “residents” (inmates) that year. There was a Women’s Center as well as a Men’s Center and both contained: a maximum of fifteen hundred residents; a staff of six hundred and thirty full-time, fifty-eight part-time; and twenty outside consultants. Overnight accommodations for visitors and consultants, physical therapy and exercise, mental and emotional fitness centers, training facilities that offered classes, were all available.[3] (see also Laws)
