Dowell and Associates – The advertising agency where Mary Kate Covino was an assistant marketing manager in Abandoned in Death. She started there straight out of college and had climbed a couple of rungs since.[1] Linny Dowell, who founded it, considered Roarke Industries “the Holy Grail of any marketing firm.” She was everyone’s supervisor, and Jim Mosebly, the accounts manager, was M.K.’s mentor. Linny brought Jim and Selma on as soon as she talked the bank into a start-up loan. It had a high-energy atmosphere in a converted warehouse, with lots of open space and splashes and slashes of color in contrast, likely deliberate, with the industrial framework. What passed as the lobby area looked more like a loungy living area in someone’s upscale home. Sofas, chairs, tables arranged in conversational groups, a bar area offering choices of water and soft drinks, coffees, teas, lent a deliberate air of casual hospitality. Other employees included Alistar, Andi, Holly, Nat, and Sly.[2]
