- He fought back
- Morris pegged the knife as a scalpel since it has a thin, sharp blade.
- The body blows were to the kidneys, abdomen, and kneecaps.
- The initial blow to the back of his head was delivered about an hour after the rest of the blows, and was with a blunt instrument (a crystal vase)
- The head wound would have bled for fifteen to twenty minutes, since the blood had time to begin to coagulate
- When he tried to get up, Daphne struck him twice more, ending his life
Interesting Facts[]
- He divorced his ex-wife of twelve years five years ago, she purchased a sheep station (ranch) in Poronsurup, Australia with half of the five million dollar settlement from Strazza and has not remarried. She was in her late 40s, attractive and outdoorsy-looking, and looked competent and content in her ID shot.[4]
- Had been married to Daphne for three years.
- His mother was a retired physician who lived in France and had remarried, his father was a neurologist, department head in a private hospital in Switzerland.[2]
- The last time his father saw him was three years ago at a medical conference in New York; they met for lunch.[2]
- The last time his mother saw him was five years ago, even though she specifically asked if she could come to New York to meet Daphne and spend time with her.[2]
- Dr. Lucy Lake, who was his chief said he was a brilliant surgeon and his talents would be sorely missed. Her husband, Dr. John O’Connor, said he was a difficult man - well respected, admired for his skill, but not particularly well-liked.[5]
- Dr. Lake said there had been altercations but no incidents, and she’d fielded both formal and informal complaints regarding his behavior and his treatment of other doctors, interns, nurses, and orderlies, but she had fielded similar complaints for other doctors under her command.[5]
- Dr. Lake was under the (mistaken) impression that Dr. Strazza’s parents had cut him off and wanted nothing to do with him, based on his saying that when he refused to kowtow to their every wish and whim, they stopped speaking to him.[5]
- Dr. Lake was also under the impression that his ex-wife was distant, on the brittle side, had affairs, tried to clean out their accounts, and ran off to Europe.[5]
- From looking at his financials, Roarke thought he was miserly and more into appearance than enjoyment. He had considerable art and jewelry insured, a luxury vehicle, and owed a bit more than half of the 12 to 15 million dollars his house was worth in a mortgage. They took two vacations a year, he went on two golf trips a year, and some professional trips for medical conferences or lectures, but was never away from his wife for more than two days at a time, with her occasionally joining him.[4]
