History[]
- An opera sensation, a prodigy, who was barely eighteen when she bowled over New York at the Met.[2]
- She would talk to a young first lieutenant Tomas Pella knew and they’d slip off together when she’d come to sing for the soldiers.[3]
- Pella said he overheard her talking to the lieutenant and, when they spoke of running away together, he saw Robert Lowell eavesdropping on their conversation.[4]
- She retired at the age of twenty when she married the wealthy and prominent James Lowell. According to her death record, she was listed as Edwina Roberti; data read opera singer, and that she was survived by her spouse, Lowell, Robert. COD was listed as suicide.[5]

- According to Pella, her father-in-law (Robert the first), was a torturer and the marks on and condition of her body led him to believe they had tortured her after learning from young Robert that she had betrayed them.[6]
- Her hair had been shorn, and her face had been ripped up. Her body was left lying on the sidewalk and her murder blamed on the enemy.[7]

- She was a soprano with the range for allegra, lirica, and drammatica.[8]
- According to Robert, she sang Verdi’s La Traviata and it was a favorite of hers.[9]
