- Her brother had been groomed for political office but died in a plane crash.
- Her sister developed a drug and alcohol habit and died of an overdose at twenty.
- She attended Radcliffe, studied business management and finance, but wasn’t able to help save her family business, which floundered after her mother’s suicide.
- She married R.J. less than a year after her mother’s death, and gave birth to J. Bolton Singer the following year.
- The Bolton family business went under in the 1980s, with multiple legal issues. Upon her father’s death following a series of strokes, she sold everything but the Hudson Valley estate to Yuri Bardov, and sold a large part of the estate (33 acres) to him as well, so they became neighbors.[5]
- She was widowed at sixty and stepped into the big chair, and increased holdings and profits.
