Eve has a habit of mixing her metaphors There are several theories as to why she does this ranging from her wanting to amuse or frustrate Roarke, to appear less competent in order to fool a suspect, or because she simply doesn't know or remember the actual saying she's trying to relate. Whatever the reason, she does it a lot. The many times she's done this in the series are listed below.

Eve: You know, the skillet says the pan's the same deal.
Roarke: I believe that's the pot calling the kettle black.
Eve: Whatever, kitchen stuff can't talk anyway.
