Exotica (Illegal drug) – First mentioned in Immortal in Death when Cockroach’s girlfriend said they were together until about 0100 (1:00 a.m.); they’d had some wine and a little Exotica. He said he had to go to close a deal, she took some Download, and passed out.[1]
Holiday in Death[]
Simon Lastrobe was believed to have ingested “an herb and chemical mix, partly Exotica, in order to maintain an erection.”[2] Later in the story, Eve convinced Piper Hoffman’s doctor that she knew what she was doing by telling him about the rape wards she worked in the rape wards in Alphabet City: “Boys and girls fresh off the farm who didn’t know how to handle a john pumped up on Zeus or Exotica.”[3]
Witness in Death[]
Richard Draco’s tox report came back with “a lovely little mix of illegals in his system at time of death. Exotica and Zing, with a soupçon of Zeus. He chased that with a double shot of unblended scotch.”[4] Draco had a stash of illegals in his goodie drawer at the Roarke Palace Hotel: “a month’s supply of Exotica, a bit of Zeus, and” a small vial of Wild Rabbit.[5] Later, Morris was examining a cadaver that had a faint blue tinge to the skin, most noticeably under the nails; the supposition was death by OD from Exotica and Jumper.[6]
Judgment in Death[]
The enforcers Max Ricker sent after Eve left his Connecticut mansion had concealed banned weapons, six ounces of Exotica, two of Zeus, a fancy set of burglary tools, and three short steel pipes, handy for spine-cracking.[7] McNab told Eve when he worked illegals, Jeremy K. Vernon was “a strutter. Preening around. Hitting on the LCs we hauled in during the bust. Made a big deal out of himself, and it was a penny-ante bust, too. Bunch of street hookers, couple of johns, and a couple kilos of Exotica. Acted like he’d just taken down some major cartel, and he treated the uniforms like slaves. Seems I heard a rumor that he liked to bust the hookers for Exotica because he could skim a couple ounces for personal use.”[8]
Betrayal in Death[]
Mollie Newman had traces of Exotica and Zoner in her system; the theory was that Sylvester Yost drugged her with Zoner and let her live while he killed Justice Werner - she was an innocent bystander, while Werner was the target.[9]
Seduction in Death[]
Morris told Eve the combo of Exotica laced with Zeus “can make a guy’s tool stay in use long after he’s gone flat otherwise,” as demonstrated by the very impressive hard-on Baxter’s stabbing victim still sported.[10] Morris said Exotica, a derivative of hormonibital-six (“whore”), had a street value of fifty USD per fluid ounce.[11]
Portrait in Death[]
Angela Brightstar had a pop for illegals possession twelve years back for having a personal stash of Exotica. She pled guilty and did three months community service.[12]
Divided in Death[]
Small traces of Exotica were found in Carter Bissel’s body.[13]
Visions in Death[]
Jasper McKinney’s death by misadventure ruling came after he and some pals had a dispute over who had dibs on the last of the illegals - a party mix of Buzz, Exotica, and Zoom, and he took a header off the roof of a building on the West Side, clutching the last of the illegals in his greedy fist.[14]
Survivor in Death[]
Ophelia Washburn tested positive for Exotica and Go, although she thought it was a mistake because some john must have slipped her some - “some rub Go on their dicks. Give a bj, and there you are.”[15]
Memory in Death[]
Max “Tubbs” Lawrence fell thirty-six floors, from the Broadway View Hotel, shouting, “Ho, ho, ho,” until he hit the sidewalk and crushed Leo Jacobs, killing them both[16]; Zeus was found in his system, although he normally stuck to Exotica, Push, and Jazz[17], but Zero had laced the latest batch of Push.[18]
Treachery in Death[]
The drugs confiscated in an illegals raid included 30 kilos of Fuck You Up, 90 kilos of Dust and 500 capsules of Exotica, although the official count after check-in was 22 kilos of FYU, 84 of Dust and 375 caps of Exotica.[19]
