Galahad - Cat

First appeared in Naked in Death; (c. February 13-22, 2058)[1]

Personal Information[]

Description[]

  • When Eve was trying to think of names, she said she wouldn’t go for anything wimpy like Fluffy; then she thought of Fred, but decided he didn’t look like Fred. She called him Tubbo when she picked him up and said he must weigh twenty pounds.[3]
    • She settled on Galahad, her “white knight” when he distracted Derrick Rockman. Roarke said, “he gets caviar for the whole of his nine lives” for saving Eve.[4]
  • In Glory in Death: “Galahad lay like a fat slug on the arm of the chair and studied Roarke’s plate with bicolored avaricious eyes.”[5]
  • When Galahad curled up on the bed, Eve said to him, “See, that’s why you’re fat. Eat, sleep, maybe prowl around a little, then eat and sleep some more. I oughta get Roarke to put a pet treadmill downstairs. Work some of that pudge off you.”[6]
  • He was pudgy.[7]
    • In early 2061, his kibble changed to a low-calorie version, because the vet advised that he lose 3 to 5 pounds (1.4-2.3 kilos).[8]
  • Perceived by Webster as enormous with bicolored eyes.[9]

Personality[]

  • The cat had no delicacies when it came to food.[10]
  • Galahad was afraid of Bella Eve.[11]

Interesting Facts[]

  • Originally owned by Georgie Castle in Naked in Death.[12]
  • He was a kneader[13], with needle claws.[14]
  • He snored.[15]
  • In Immortal in Death, when Mavis, Leonardo, and others were staying at the house, Roarke found Galahad cowering under the bed wearing beads and tiny red bows. Roarke said, “It’s mortifying, for both of us.”[16]
  • Summerset thought his affection for him was secret: “As [Eve] strode away, Summerset bent and picked up the cat to stroke -- something he never would have done had anyone been around to observe. Galahad purred, stretched his neck in appreciation of Summerset’s long, bony fingers. Their mutual affection was their little secret.”[17]
  • According to Roarke, Galahad refused to go outside because “outside means the possibility of a trip to the vet. A trip to the vet means the possibility of a pressure syringe.”[18]
  • Eve engaged in staring contests with Galahad.[19]
