- Carl Neissan was thrown out of a utility vehicle right at the feet of George and Maria Fitzgerald (his wife).[2] They were on their way home from a holiday party at the Andersons' when the vehicle stopped in front of them.[3]
- George said he got a look at the driver; he said the driver was a young man, handsome, with light hair. He smiled at George and George smiled back; the driver "had the kind of face that makes you smile."[4]
