Gold Star Transportation Service – Mentioned in Indulgence in Death, Gold Star was started fourteen years ago by Jamal Houston and Michael Chin, with a single secondhand limo. Since then, they had grown the business to a fleet of twelve high-end luxury limos, all gold, with premier amenities. They’d earned a five-diamond rating every year for nearly a decade. It was headquartered in Astoria, Queens, employed eight drivers, and had an administrative staff of six. Jamal’s wife, Mamie, kept the books, and Michael’s wife of five years, Kimmy, served as head mechanic. Houston’s children, Benji and Lea, were listed as part-time employees.
The named drivers were West and Peter, with Jamal, Kimmy, and Michael also driving the limos when needed.
The limo at LaGuardia, where Jamal was murdered, had fresh white roses in little vases between the windows, a selection of viewing and audio and reading discs all organized by alpha and type in a compartment, three full decanters of different types of alcohol, a fridge stocked with cold drinks, and a compact AutoChef; nothing was touched/used.[1]
