History[]
- Her husband had been in the military and was killed twelve years ago (c. 2048).[1]
- She had no children, had skills in running households and, though being a former military wife had seen much of the world, she had never seen New York and chose to relocate after her husband’s death.[1] She still had his dress uniform.[3]
Interesting Facts[]
- She found Thomas Anders’s body when she arrived for work, called 9-1-1, then called Mrs. Anders.[4]
- She had been in the U.S. and in the Anderses employ for nine years (she attained the position through an employment agency). She moved to New York from Berlin.[1] She arrived for work precisely at 6:00 a.m. every morning but Sunday, which was her full day off; she left precisely at 4:00 p.m. except for Tuesdays and Thursdays when she left at 1:00 p.m. She described the Anderses as very good employers; very fair, very correct.[5]
- Only Thomas Anders, Ava Anders, and Greta Horowitz had the security codes to the house; the codes were changed every ten days.[6]
- She described the Anderses relationship as seemingly content and that they were well-suited; her impression was that they enjoyed each other and their life together.[6] Later she said Ava seemed happier when he was gone than when he was home; the longer he was gone, the happier she would be.[7]
- Greta said she planned to look for other employment after Ava requested that Greta see that Thomas’s clothes were removed and the floors polished; after Ava saw Greta’s disapproval, she became tearful.[7]
