Identi-pad – Carried in the police field kit, it was used to formally identify victims by their fingerprints.[1] The Identi-pad could also display an image; Yancy worked on a police sketch on an Identi-pad.[2] In Immortal in Death, Peabody said she had a “porta-ident” in her field kit. As she used it to run the fingerprints of a victim, it appeared to be the same as, or similar to, the Identi-pad.[3]
Other mentions of an Identi-pad or ID pad.[4]
