He had a sealed juvenile record, but his adult record was clean.
Was driving because he and Michael Chin, the other owner of Gold Star flipped a coin and he won (Chin ran the dispatch instead).
Lived in a large and pretty suburban home with big windows, a rolling lawn, and a front garden.
He always wanted to be his own boss, and still enjoyed the work.
Morris found signs of childhood abuse, but he was otherwise in good health and fit.^[2]
His juvenile record showed truancy, shoplifting, illegals, destruction of property, two stints in juvie, and, finally, when he was seventeen he beat his father and took off. After that a cop cottoned onto the abuse and put him into a supervised halfway house, provided counseling, and gave him a chance to turn his life around, which he did.^[3]
His father beat a neighbor kid, got a stretch in the Tombs, picked the wrong con to mess with, and ended up bleeding out in the showers, thanks to a shiv in his gut.^[3]
His mother moved back to Tennessee, where her family was from.^[3]
