- He and his brother found Kolbecki’s body when they reported for work that morning; Kolbecki had been robbed and beaten to death the previous night. There was blood all over and Mr. Kolbecki wouldn’t wake up. He cried and wouldn’t let Billy look or touch the body.
- Worked for Mr. Kolbecki at his little market on Washington.
- Detective Carmichael said they weren’t looking at either brother for the crime, just for information on the night clerk, who was in the wind.
- Liked cream soda, so Eve suggested Billy buy a cream soda for him, and an officer would bring it to him; Billy could then stay in Observation and watch Jerry while he was interviewed.
