Personal Information[]
- Age: 98[4]
- Relationships: Delia Peabody (granddaughter); Zeke Peabody (grandson); unnamed granddaughter or grandson, depending on which reference
Interesting Facts[]
- Peabody referred to her granny many times in the In Death books, but in Thankless in Death, she told Mrs. Golde that her granny was a Norwicki. Mrs. Golde told her that her grandmother was also Polish, that she was a Wazniac. She died the previous year at 118, having gone skydiving two weeks before she slipped off in her sleep. They were bonding over the sassafras tea Mrs. Golde served them.[5].
- That was the first time Peabody referred to her granny with an actual name, although it was unknown if that was her married name, or if the granny Peabody continually referred to in the series was always the same one.
- If it was the same granny, she also made “the most incredible mincemeat pie” - “it’s all kind of fruit and spices and I think some whiskey or something”[6] and wine.[7]
- She made wonderful chicken and rice soup, and always used sage, which really made it.[8].
- If it was the same granny, she had a big Oscar party every year and was brutal when somebody wore something she thought was stupid.[9]
- She marched with Eloise Callahan in East Washington, back when it was Washington, D.C., at the first Stand Up protest.[10]
- Peabody had seen pictures of her granny wearing “jeans with holes in the legs” from when she was younger, similar to what Lauren Elder was wearing when her body was found in Abandoned in Death.
