Her roommate saw Downing leaving the building with two suitcases that morning.
She was a big fan of Julian Cross and had seen The Icove Agenda vid multiple times.
They’d been friends since forever so they didn’t screw around with each other even when they weren’t screwing around with anybody else.
She remembered seeing a painting of five women, including Downing, Carlee MacKensie, and Lydia Su. She thought they looked “really sad but really strong,” which she told to Downing. The other women in the photo were an older woman, maybe 50 and a really young one who looked really sad. They were all pretty.
The last time she saw Downing was a few nights ago when Reb forgot to stock the AutoChef, so she went to her apartment for coffee and since she had just gotten up, she had to pee, which she did, and she saw that and another painting in Downing’s second bedroom/studio. The second painting was a scary one, depicting men who were screaming and falling into a fiery pit in front of an big, spooky-looking horror vid house that was burning. The men were wearing devil’s masks and nothing else. She only saw it for a second before Downing came out with the coffee and closed the door to the studio.
She asked Detective Yancy out for a drink after he recreated the paintings she saw in Downing’s apartment.^[2]
She visited Yancy in Apprentice in Death and he told Eve they were seeing each other now.^[3]
