Interesting Facts[]
- She was very philanthropic, and Roarke knew her a little.
- Her husband died falling off a mountain or into a crevice, attempting to climb it.[2]
- Her family ran a big charitable foundation.
- Roarke knew her to be sensible and steady, no-nonsense when it came to business and generous in her causes.
- Ann Elizabeth Smith did tailoring for her, and last visited the afternoon of February 3.
- She owned all or most of the building she lived in.
- Her son and his family left that morning for their Kauai estate for two and a half weeks, with Berkle, her daughter, and her daughter’s family to follow the next day. They moved their plans up a day to avoid being killed by Smith.
- Sal also used Smith but she was in St. Kitts, and was married with three daughters and no sons, so she didn’t meet the criteria for the fourth victim.
- Berkle recommended Smith to her oldest friend, Felicity Lomare, who did fit the profile.
