Now – A national television show hosted by Nadine Furst that premiered in February of 2060 with Eve Dallas as its first guest in Innocent in Death. A hard news show that focused on the police and their investigations so, while older cases may be discussed, current investigations would be a focus. Nadine hired Trina for Now as, according to Nadine, “She’s damn good.”[1]

Named guests/stories:

  • “They touched on the Icove case from the previous fall during the debut in Innocent in Death. Yes, Eve believed the laws against human cloning were correct and just. No, she didn’t hold the clones themselves responsible for what the Icoves had done.”[2]
  • Tandy Willowby and Mavis Freestone for the baby-market business, with pieces of the interviews aired during the debut in Innocent in Death. Eve “watched the clips of the separate interviews with Tandy Applebee, her husband, and their infant son, and Mavis, Leonardo, and Belle were run. Both women got teary as they spoke about their friendship, and how Eve had saved Tandy’s life, saved the baby -- who they’d named Quentin Dallas Applebee -- from being sold in the black market, and had broken the ring only hours before their babies had been born.”[2]
  • Eve’s current case: “The shocking murder of Craig Foster, a history teacher.”[2]
  • During the pursuit of The Groom in Creation in Death, Eve promised Nadine a one-on-one exclusive with her and a live appearance on Now by any member of Eve’s team she chose -- “with portions of that exclusive interview by [Eve] to run during the show. Recorded prior.” This was in exchange for Nadine’s research team assisting Eve.[3]
  • In Kindred in Death, Nadine mentioned doing a segment on high-end home security systems after Eve suggested it, enlisting her help with finding someone with initials D.P. or V.P. who purchased the Interface Total Home 5500 system.[5]
  • In Fantasy in Death, Nadine told Eve she had Bart Minnock on her show a couple of times. “He was a sweet boy. I hope you roast the balls of his killer.”[6]
  • Towards the end of Treachery in Death, Eve suggested to Commander Whitney that he go on Now regarding the actions of Renee Oberman and how they hurt the department. “Go on her show. You, the chief if he’ll agree. Me, Peabody. Especially Peabody. The situation she was in, the actions she took, who she is, will play well. A good cop -- a young female detective trapped in a deadly situation -- who turned that and spearheaded the exposure of corruption, of murder and treachery. We’re the blue line, sir, and that will resonate on-screen. But Peabody is the face, the very human element. And she would symbolize who we are, contrast sharply against what Renee Oberman is.”[8]
  • Other mentions:
    • In Treachery in Death, Kata Ochi recognized Eve from Now - she and her husband, Charlie, liked to watch her show.[9]
