Nowhere – The hole-in-the-wall bar where Arlo Kagen spent most nights, getting his drunk on. In Vendetta in Death, he was drinking at the bar when Darla Pettigrew, dressed as an LC, picked him up, drugging his beer and taking him back to her grandmother’s house to torture and kill him before returning his dead body to his apartment building. It was located two blocks from 53 West 179th Street, where Kagen lived. They served cheap greasy food the booze helped slide down, including the mystery meat burger and limp soy fries Kagen ate as his last meal while watching the Yankees versus the Red Sox and bitching because he wanted to watch Arena Ball instead of a pussy baseball game. They also served nachos, which he was considering ordering until the fake LC distracted him.[1]

It was between an empty storefront advertising it was for sale or lease and a pawn shop with its steel doors locked down. The owners were a couple of guys in Newark who hadn’t been in the place for weeks, and the bartender/manager, who lived in the apartment above the bar, was Mr. Tiller. It had a single window, dingy with grime, framing a swirl of neon reading NOWHERE. Security included triple police locks and a sign with a toothy dog claiming that Bulldog Alarm system guarded the building, but no door cam. It was a dump of a dive, a drinking establishment where the patrons came to down the cheap until they had enough of a buzz to stumble out and face their crap-filled lives.[2]

In Golden in Death, Roarke told Eve he bought the place, which was quite a bargain, and was keeping the name, but turning it into a nice little neighborhood pub.[3]
