Power Bar – When Eve swung into the bullpen and saw that there were no danishes, she thought she’d have to settle for a Power Bar from vending or take a chance on the food at the data club. “Surely it couldn’t be worse than a Power Bar.”[1]
In Indulgence in Death, Peabody threw a Power Bar to Eve, who told her those were disgusting. Peabody said “Nah. A num-nummy treat. Vending says so.” Eve was once again saved from having to eat more than one bite by Roarke’s sudden appearance and offer to take her to get pizza.[2]
In Possession in Death, it was spelled as one word: PowerBar. Eve narrowly avoided having to eat one by seeing and speaking with a dead woman.[3] It was also spelled as one word in Treachery in Death.[4]
In Celebrity in Death, Matthew Zank had a basket of PowerBars, candy bars, and gum in his trailer.[5]
In Delusion in Death, Baxter offers Eve half of his PowerBar, Yogurt Crunch type, which she declined.[6]
In Devoted in Death, Eve settled for one she had in her desk drawer after she took a bite of the Vegalicious Pocket Peabody brought her from vending, a sip of Peabody’s doctored coffee, dumped the rest of the pocket in the recycler (“where it belonged”), tried for a vitamin smoothie from her office AutoChef, and was shocked to actually get one (she’d programmed candy for that selection, but the candy thief had struck again).[7]
