Interesting Facts[]
- Former U.S. Army, weapons expert, enlisted in 2029, pulled out in 2039 as a sergeant. He was a trained sniper and instructor.
- Started in the NYPSD six months after leaving the Army, moved to Tactical (SWAT) in 2049, under Lt. Lowenbaum, and retired the previous year after twenty years.
- Married Zoe Younger 2045, one offspring, fifteen. Divorced 2052.
- Married Susann Prinz March, 2059 and widowed November, 2059.
- His wife was 16 weeks pregnant when she ran out into traffic and was struck by a vehicle, killing her and the unborn fetus. He blamed the driver, Brian T. Fine (who was not cited), the OB/GYN (Dr. Michaelson) for being behind schedule (due to an emergency), the police officer (Russo) who was first on scene (not sure what the logic was there), the OB/GYN office manager, Marta Beck, the assistant manager of the shop where Susann worked (Alyce Ellison), the lawyer who he saw about pursuing a case against the driver, Jonah Rothstein, and somebody who wouldn’t fix the evidence for him, Marian Jacoby.
- Met Susann through her cop cousin, who was a friend of Lt. Lowenbaum’s.
- Had joint custody of Willow with his ex, one week with him, the next with her.
- He didn’t like Zoe’s new husband.[2]
- The accident shattered him and Lowenbaum ordered him to take hardship leave because he wasn’t steady, and when he came back from it, he’d lost weight and was too often distracted, and angry under it all. He never came in drunk but he hit the bottle pretty hard off duty, and when that stopped, he was still shaky and still pissed. Since he was coming up on his twenty, Lowenbaum talked him into either turning in his papers or being reassigned; he chose retirement.[2]
- He said he wanted to spend more time with Will, maybe travel some. Lowenbaum tagged him a couple of times after that to see if he wanted to have a brew or grab a meal, but he put him off and Lowenbaum let it go.[2]
- His closest friend on the force was Officer Vince Patroni.[2]
- Used the name Gabe Willowby, actually Dwayne Mathias, age 53, from Bangor, Maine, to rent a second place in New York, a townhouse on Third Avenue, and to bring Will to New Mexico in November, 2060, as Colt Willowby, who was actually Silas Jackson, age 16, from Louisville, KY.[4]
