Sensitive – Some individuals in the In Death world had powers beyond those of most people; they might use their powers for the “good” or “ill” of themselves or others. Peabody said, “There are sensitives, unscrupulous sensitives who’ve used their gifts for their own gain, their own purpose.”[1]
- Known Sensitives:
- Lawrence Collins in Ritual in Death[2]
- Madam Dupres in Wonderment in Death; she had assisted cops numerous times, locating missing children, and was unknowingly recruiting wealthy clients for Dr. Bright (Louis Carroll Ravenwood)[3]
- Chloe Enster - self-proclaimed “half-assed” and she mostly blocked it in Forgotten in Death[4]
- Mikhal Lombrowski, a psychic Darlene Fitzwilliams visited before Wonderment in Death; he wasn’t able to help her, so he didn’t take her money[5]
- Isis Paige in Ceremony in Death and Ritual in Death (she was studied at the Kijinsky Institute)[6]
- Mimi Pauley in Kindred in Death[7]
- Sam Peabody[8]
- Zeke Peabody[9]
- Silas Pratt in Ritual in Death[10]
- Wade Rajinski told Eve in Passions in Death, “I’m not a full sensitive, but I do have just a touch extra.”[11]
- Louis Carroll Ravenwood in Wonderment in Death, who made a career out of reading people and causing their deaths for monetary gain. Eve “actually felt him try to probe her thoughts-and pushed her will against his.” “He had something, she thought, and it pulled. But it wasn’t enough without the kick of his herbs and chemicals.”[12]
- Fitz Ravinski’s mother in Thankless in Death, who predicted that Jerry Reinhold would hurt somebody - “Mark my words, Fitz, that boy’s going to hurt somebody. He’s got the dark in him.”[13]
- Thea Rossi, who knew Lottie Roebuck was female, psycho, and would have killed her if there weren’t two of them (her and her friend Savannah Bocco) in the elevator in Obsession in Death[14]
- Celina Sanchez in Visions in Death and Memory in Death[15]
- Possible Sensitives:
- Eve Dallas[16] (please see Eve’s page for more information)[17]
- Dr. Hester in Wonderment in Death; she was able to intuit information about the health of people, including that Darlene Fitzwilliams was clean, and told Peabody “You shouldn’t worry so much about your weight. Good nutrition, regular exercise, of course, but you have a very healthy, robust body. Your perception of your body is harsher than the reality.”[5]
- Larinda Mars[18]
- Owen, Officer Vince Patroni’s son in Apprentice in Death: “He’s got that, you know, extra. We think. We haven’t had him tested yet, both his mother and I think he’s too young for it. But he’s got that extra.”[19]
