- He had a broken neck from falling down the stairs and a knife sticking out of his abdomen.
- According to one of his neighbors, Mildred, he ate an apple a day. He liked to peel them, tried to get the peel off in one run, said it was good luck if you did.
- He was drunk and trying to peel an apple as he started down the stairs. He tripped, lost his balance, took a bad fall, breaking his neck and fracturing his skull. He also fell on his open penknife.
