Tourist blimp – Appeared and was mentioned in several books in the series.
- The first mention was in Naked in Death: “A tourist blimp crept by at low altitude, the guide’s voice booming out tips on sky walk shopping”[1]
- At least some had gift emporiums, and the tourism plug was audible from the street: the recitation of New York’s attractions, the history and tradition of Broadway, the brilliance of museums, the variety of shops - including the plug for the blimp’s own gift emporium; the convenience of the people glides that connected the sparkling fashion shops from Fifth to Madison, the Empire State Building’s newest sky walk.[2]
- In Ceremony in Death, a tourist blimp blasted out a spiel of the advantages and highlights of living in an urban wonderland.[3]
- In Portrait in Death, when Eve and Peabody are chasing the kidnapped Trueheart, one of the sounds Peabody heard over his communicator was a tourist blimp saying something about Chinatown; this and other clues helped them locate and rescue him.[4]
- In Origin in Death, tour blimps were doing extra duty, blasting out the highlights and landmarks as they lumbered along, bloating the sky and blocking the commuter trams.[5]
- Other mentions[6]
Also mentioned in the series were ad blimps.
