U-Play – The computer and holo-game company founded and run by Bart Minnock, Cilla Allen, Benny Leman, and Var Hoyt in Fantasy in Death. The fledgling company got its true start from Bart’s work on the gaming disc for The Valiant vid.[1] It was headquartered in a converted warehouse that Roarke used to rent to them, and then sold them, and full of activity and manic energy in its four open floors. Eve called it “EDD on Zeus,” then “Nerd World in the Geek Galaxy,” and finally, “the seventh circle of hell.” There were about 70 employees in New York, with another couple dozen nationally who worked virtually - in sales, testing, that kind of thing. The company logo was a square to represent the four partners.[2]
McNab said he bought their first PS system, and he had never looked back. “I got their PS-5, with the substation for Christmas last year. It really sings.” One of the games they manufactured was Excursion, which was being hyped at the gamer con Peabody and McNab attended at the Potomac Hotel in East Washington.[3]
