Carmichael, Uniform - Homicide Officer, NYPSD (Cop Central)
Uniform Carmichael was one of the uniformed officers assigned to the Homicide squad under Lieutenant Eve Dallas at Cop Central, NYPSD.
He should not be confused with Detective Carmichael (female, also in Dallas’s Homicide Squad) or Officer Carmichael (female, a uniform in Holiday in Death).
First appearance: Indulgence in Death (July, 2060)
On the Job[]
- Sometimes members of the squad call him “the other Carmichael” to distinguish him from Detective Carmichael.[1]
- At one point Dallas complains, “Why do they have to have the same name? One of them needs to change it.”[1]
- He was known to be “a vicious bastard on details.”[1]
- When he uncovers interesting information while doing research, he makes grunting noises in the back of his throat.[1]
- During Celebrity in Death, Uniform Carmichael was assigned to escort actors who are coming in to give statements about the Harris homicide. Dallas chooses him because he wouldn’t be star-struck.[2]
- When Detective Peabody was assigned to make death notifications in Delusion in Death (early autumn 2060), she takes Uniform Carmichael because he “has his shit together.”[3]
Interesting Facts[]
- When he had downtime, he liked to watch sports on the screen. “That’s real action.”[2]
- In Brotherhood in Death, he tolds Eve he had a cousin on the job in the Bronx, and he had already tagged her before he arrived at Frederick Betz’s house.[4]
- In Desperation in Death, he related a story about his parents taking his little sister, his baby brother, and him to Baltimore when he was twelve to visit his maternal grandmother; also has an maternal aunt. His dad took the kids to get ice cream and was pulled over on the way home by Cecil B. Doggett, who claimed the vehicle was stolen. He put a gun in his dad’s face, ordered him out of the car, and slammed him against the hood of the car so hard it busted his lip and had his nose bleeding. He cuffed his father and put him facedown on the ground, but with so many people recording the incident, he finally uncuffed him and told him he got lucky this time. Doggett was suspended for it, not for the first time. He said that’s what made him a cop, and Eve told him “No, you did. He might’ve turned you in that direction, because that’s who you are... You’ve done credit to your uniform every day I’ve known you.”[5]
