Ledo, Wendall

Appeared in Conspiracy in Death (January 2059) and killed in Obsession in Death (December 27-31, 2060)

Personal Information[]

  • Description: Convicted illegals manufacturer and distributor.[1]
  • Age at TOD: 34[2]
  • TOD: 0603, December 29, 2060[3]
  • Hair: Straw-colored
  • Eyes: Brown
  • Relationships: Unnamed mother in Trenton[4]
  • Address: 524 Avenue B, Unit 311 (“the Square”)[2]

Description[]

  • He had a bony body with his pale straw hair slicked back from a milk-white face. His chocolate brown eyes were going pink at the rims and was only a few slippery steps away from becoming on of the funky-junkies he served.[5]

Interesting Facts[]

  • A second-rate chemi-dealer who worked the Bowery area, where Snooks was murdered. A long-time dealer of smoke and Jazz, he’d been released three months before from the state penitentiary.[6]
  • He liked to spend his days at Gametown,[7] had a custom-designed cue (that Eve broke) with a silver tip, and never touched his products during a match.[8]
  • He offered Eve some Jazz, Go Smoke, and Ecstasy at no charge before he remembered to whom he was speaking.[9]
  • Ledo knew Snooks and dealt to him from time to time. He noticed how a guy came down to the area three nights ago, wearing nice clothes, and asked Ledo about Snooks and where Snooks was.[10]
  • The man he saw was wearing a long, black coat and hat; he was probably white, taller than Ledo, and clean.[11]
  • By Obsession, Ledo was described as having the funk screw up his eyesight so much that he didn’t score as much at hustling pool. “He could still bag another junkie, managed a quick bang in exchange for some Rush or X, but the illegals-dealing, scrawny asshole hustler who’d insulted and assaulted Eve Dallas had fallen on very hard times.”[2]
  • Eve described him as “a third-rate illegals dealer, chemi-head who was real fond of the funk. An asshole, a complete fuckhead. Mostly nonviolent. Run, hide, and lie.”[2]
  • Baxter said he arrested Ledo when he was still a minor, so at least 17 years ago.[4]
  • His mother hadn’t seen him in fifteen years and asked Peabody why it was problem that he died, so Eve took Carmine Atelli up on his offer to pay for his burial costs.[4]
  • Morris said without his untimely end, he might have had another five or six years in him if he’d remained on the same course - considerable liver and kidney damage from substance abuse, ocular degeneration from the same, bones and teeth show signs of very poor nutrition, and his last meal was fried noodles and brew that was more chemicals than barley.[12]
  • His tox screen showed a cocktail of funk, go-smoke, and downs - enough downs that his killer didn’t need to stun him since he’d have been out for another six hours regardless.[12]

Criminal Information[]

  • Six-month stint for possession, four served, with mandatory rehab sometime between Conspiracy and his death.[2]

Homicide Information[]

  • Stunned and stabbed through the chest with a broken pool cue, and his tongue had been cut out.[3]
  • Above the bed was a note, written on the wall. Addressed to Dallas, it talked of justice for the insult to her, and was signed “your true friend.”[3]
  • No security cameras, although we know the killer posed as a delivery person to enter and exit the apartment.[2]
  • Killed by Lottie Roebuck.
