Whittier’s – The store in London where Carmichael Smith had a standing order for the type of stationery used by the killer in Imitation in Death. It was cream-colored, heavy-eight bond, unrecycled (and therefore illegal in the US), and Smith said it was gorgeous.[1] Peabody found out it went for twenty Euro dollars a pop - one sheet, with the envelope twelve, and it was manufactured exclusively in Britain. There were sixteen known retailers and two known wholesalers who carried that style and weight, with two in London.[2]
